Hi Robert,

I have given it a try using the rdseed executable you just send me without
success. To confirm whether its rdseed or the data which has a problem, I
tried two data sets (recent data-2016 and old data-1990).

For the recent data set, i get error message like:-

Output data format will be sac.binary.
INFO: sac variable EVDP will be in KILOMETERS
WARNING (process_data): station/channel AF01/BHZ not found in
station/channel tables for location: .
Skipping this trace.

WARNING (process_data): station/channel AGPR/BHZ not found in
station/channel tables for location: .
Skipping this trace.
Warning... Azimuth and Dip out of Range on AIS,BHE
Defaulting to subchannel identifier (for multiplexed data only)
WARNING (output_sac): Segmentation fault (core dumped)

And for the old data set, I get error message like:-

Output data format will be sac.binary.
INFO: sac variable EVDP will be in KILOMETERS
WARNING (output_sac): Segmentation fault (core dumped)

What surprises me most is that sometimes back (2011), I had worked with
the old data set but now this version of rdseed gives error message for
the same data.

Hi Josphat-

I probably should have zipped the file. Depending on how you downloaded
it, the contents may have gotten garbled. I have created a zip file you
can try. To review what we have there:

bash-4.1$ zip rdseed.ubuntu.zip rdseed.ubuntu.14.04
adding: rdseed.ubuntu.14.04 (deflated 71%)
-bash-4.1$ ls -ltr
total 2176
-rwxr-xr-x 1 rob users 1703024 Oct 6 15:23 rdseed.ubuntu.14.04
-rw-r--r-- 1 rob users 492608 Oct 7 08:00 rdseed.ubuntu.zip
-bash-4.1$ file *
rdseed.ubuntu.14.04: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV),
dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.24, not stripped
rdseed.ubuntu.zip: Zip archive data, at least v2.0 to extract
-bash-4.1$ unzip -l rdseed.ubuntu.zip
Archive: rdseed.ubuntu.zip
Length Date Time Name
--------- ---------- ----- ----
1703024 10-06-2016 15:23 rdseed.ubuntu.14.04
--------- -------
1703024 1 file

The URL would then be:
http://ds.iris.edu/pub/beta/rdseed/rdseed.ubuntu.zip
http://ds.iris.edu/pub/beta/rdseed/rdseed.ubuntu.zip

It's still possible that the error you are seeing is due to something
wrong in your data, but the segmentation fault would indicate that rdseed
has a bug that needs to be fixed. When we can get someone to fix it,
though, is an issue. We're pretty short handed on supporting our legacy
code.

Hi Robert,

Sorry to bother you again.

You mean instead of using "rdseed.rh6.linux_64" I use
"rdseed.ubuntu.14.04"?

If so it doesn't work and it is in file format (i.e. white colour).

Hi Josphat-

What I noticed was that the Linux executable bundled with rdseed is
for
Red Hat, and Ubuntu is in a different build family, so there is a
chance
that the following custom build could work better. Can you try
downloading this binary and see if it behaves better on your machine?

http://ds.iris.edu/pub/beta/rdseed/rdseed.ubuntu.14.04
http://ds.iris.edu/pub/beta/rdseed/rdseed.ubuntu.14.04
http://ds.iris.edu/pub/beta/rdseed/rdseed.ubuntu.14.04
http://ds.iris.edu/pub/beta/rdseed/rdseed.ubuntu.14.04>

Thanks!

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your email. Am running rdseed5.3.1 using Ubuntu Linux
14.04.

The SEED data without the particular station is still giving me error
message "WARNING (output_sac): Segmentation fault (core dumped)"

Even when I try to play with the flag
"Check Reversal [(0=No), 1=Dip.Azimuth, 2=Gain, 3=Both]:"
as suggested by Januka, I still get the same error warning message.

Any assistance is much appreciated

Josphat

Hi Josphat-

What operating system are you running this on? It's generally bad
when
code like rdseed throws a segmentation fault. Are you running rdseed
5.3.1?

It could be an anomaly with your SEED data as well, but this might
be
something for us to look out for in terms of being a bug. Sorry you
are
having trouble here.

Thank you very much for your responses, its now working but for one

Do I just do away with this station or what??

Hi Josphat,
Try hitting enter when rdseed prompts you for an output name rather
than
entering one yourself.

Dear All,
