Lecturer - Earth & Planetary Science - College of Letters & Science
The Department of Earth & Planetary Science at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for temporary lecturers to teach EPS N82 Introduction to Oceans during Summer 2017; EPS 20 Earthquakes in Your Backyard during Summer 2017; EPS 117: Geomorphology during Fall 2017; and for any additional needs that may emerge in the department.
EPS N82 consists of 6 hours of lectures per week for six weeks. In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), and writing exams.
EPS 20 consists of 5 hours of lectures per week for six weeks. In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), and writing exams.
EPS 117 consists of 3 hours of lectures per week. Additionally, EPS 117 includes overseeing GSIs in the 3-hour per week laboratory component. In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), writing exams, managing GSIs, and maintaining a course website.
Basic qualifications: an M.A. or equivalent degree in Earth Science or Geology is required by the date of application.
Salary: To be commensurate with experience. Minimum annual full-time salary is $52,099. Appointments will be part-time.
