Hi Ralph,
The said function works for me in SAC version 101.6. See below,

SAC> r *.SAC
179.50_liq_liq.VEL.SAC STF_DIS.SAC
SAC> p1
SAC> saveimg seismogram.pdf
save file seismogram.pdf [PDF]
SAC> ls *.pdf
seismogram.pdf
SAC> saveimg seismogram.ps
save file seismogram.ps [PS]
SAC> ls *.ps
seismogram.ps

Do you have write access to the folder? If saveimg keeps failing, you could
try to save the figure the old-fashioned way as follows?

SAC> P
SAC> BD SGF
SAC> P1
SAC> ED SGF
SAC> ls *(find the newly created file in the working dir, e.g. f001.sgf)
SAC> SGFTOPS f001.sgf f001.ps
