Please post the following:

UCSD’s Project IDA is seeking an applications programmer to support data collection and network operations for the IRIS/IDA https://ida.ucsd.edu/ portion of the Global Seismographic Network http://www.iris.edu/hq/programs/gsn (GSN). The IDA Data Collection Center is responsible for operating a network consisting of a central data hub and approximately 40 internationally deployed seismographic and transmit their data in near realtime via the internet. IDA staff manage the archiving of approximately 1000 streams of incoming data, evaluate these streams for quality control purposes, and redistribute the data to the larger scientific and hazard warning communities. Staff must interact closely with IDA's engineering group to identify problems with the stations’ recording systems and with the IRIS Data Management Center to ensure timely distribution of quality data products.

In support of these activities, the successful applicant will build moderately complex applications/scripts used in the IDA data acquisition and processing pipeline and directly support IDA quality control processes and tools to assist in 24/7/365 monitoring of IDA data pipeline processes. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining and extending existing programs and scripts developed with Python, Matlab, and shell scripts (c-shell, bash).

This person will act as lead IDA web developer and spearhead development of data-intensive web applications and SQL databases in support of internal processes. He/she will design, develop and maintain modern web applications that function as internal management tools to track the status of 24/7/365 real-time data streams, seismic stations operations, instrument metadata and instrument frequency responses, and design and develop SQL-based databases to power these applications.

The incumbent will be responsible for development of web applications and content management systems that serve as the public-facing internet presence of Project IDA and build complex web-based tools for data visualization and process control. The incumbent must be comfortable working primarily in a linux/unix environment.
