Hi.

I am trying to convert SAC files into ascii files. I found the sac2asc code
but I can't compile it. It should be just something like " make sac2asc",
but it is not working.

Does anyone have another option/version to convert the files from SAC to
ascii?

Thanks
Joana

    This is great: sac2xy
    https://github.com/msthorne/SACTOOLS
When you compile run: sac2xy 'sac file' 'output file'

    Cheers,

    Hi Joana,
    Two simple ways,

    1. Within SAC itself by running; CONVERT FROM my.sac TO ALPHA my.ascii
my.ASCII will contain alphanumeric version of your SAC file, which you will
have to format to suit your needs. Read the SAC manual for more details.

    2. Use Mike Thorne's matlab code rsac.m (I can send you more infor. if you
    decide to go with this).

      Hi Joana,

One more option in case it's useful. Written in C, the sacdump program here:
      https://seiscode.iris.washington.edu/projects/sacdump/files

will write out requested header (or all defined headers) and optionally print a list of time-value pairs for each sample.
