We invite applications for a postdoc scholar position in computational seismology at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The postdoc will work on developing 3D dynamic rupture models of megathrust earthquake scenarios in the Cascadia Subduction Zone (CSZ) and predicting the potential ground motions in the Pacific Northwest. The goal is to construct realistic earthquake scenarios based on the most up-to-date knowledge of CSZ fault properties and to advance the understanding of the damaging potential of CSZ earthquakes. The position is part of a collaborative NSF project with Harvard University and University of Oregon. The appointment will be for one year and renewable for a second year by mutual agreement.

Candidates need to complete a PhD degree by the time of appointment. Research experiences in 3D dynamic rupture modeling are preferred. We also seek applications that demonstrate enthusiasm for understanding earthquake source dynamics, good communication skills, and record of high-quality research contributions.

Applications received by February 1, 2018 will receive fullest consideration, and the position will remain open until filled. Applicants should submit a curriculum vita, a list of publications and names of three potential referees, by email to Dr. Yihe Huang (yiheh<at>umich.edu).
