TENURE-TRACK PROFESSORSHIP (W1 TENURE-TRACK LEADING TO A W2) FOR GEOPHYSICAL SUBSURFACE IMAGING

commencing as soon as possible, ref. no. JP 276
The professorship is located in the Department of Earth Science.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is expected to carry out research in the field of geophysical subsurface imaging, preferably with an emphasis on seismic methods. The candidate is expected to teach parts of the applied geophysics curriculum at undergraduate (BSc) and graduate (MSc, PhD) levels.
Use of the institute’s applied geophysics equipment and the development of new inversion methods that integrate different geophysical measurements in subsurface imaging are desirable. The integration of this expertise into climate research (e.g., permafrost monitoring, CCS, processes in glaciers during melting) is especially desirable.
The successful candidate is further expected to cooperate with other national and international institutions with regard to research and teaching and to initiate externally funded research programs. Finally, the successful candidate should have academic leadership skills and actively participate in academic self-governance.
