The Global & Computational Seismology group at the Department of Geophysics, Colorado School of Mines, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the field of global seismology and full waveform inversion (FWI). Potential research projects include, but are not limited to, developing new strategies for global FWI based on 3D wave simulations, uncertainty and resolution analysis for large-scale imaging, improving and interpreting global mantle models in a multi-disciplinary framework, etc. The position is initially for one year, with a possibility of extension to a second year upon a satisfactory progress.

Requirements: Candidates must have a PhD degree in seismology, geophysics, applied mathematics or related fields. Experience in numerical methods, large-scale HPC simulations and seismic imaging is preferable. The successful candidate is also expected to have good communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills for collaborative work.
