Attention IRIS Web Service users:
An update to the IRIS-WS Java library is now available (ver 2.0.18) and can be downloaded from the following link: http://ds.iris.edu/ds/nodes/dmc/software/downloads/IRIS-WS/
Included in this version are the following updates:
-In addition to http requests the library now also supports requests using https protocol, which is increasingly becoming the standard for web services.
-Event detection metadata records will no longer be stripped from the returned data. These records with zero sample count will now be gracefully handled when web services return them. The parameter ‘szsrecs’ has been added to the fdsnws-dataselect service to accommodate these types of requests. Please refer to the service documentation (http://service.iris.edu/fdsnws/dataselect/1/) for more details.
We strongly encourage all users, and especially web service providers at other FDSN datacenters, to upgrade their version of the IRIS-WS Java library at their earliest convenience.
Thank you,
IRIS Web Services

Hello Web Service users,
We have identified an issue with the recently released v 2.0.18 version of the java library related to authentication requests. If you are experiencing problems with your username and passwords for restricted data being denied, please revert back to ver. 2.0.17 of the IRIS-WS Java library while we investigate the source of this problem.
An example of this problem is shown here:

If needed, version 2.0.17 of the library can be accessed through this link: http://ds.iris.edu/ds/nodes/dmc/software/downloads/IRIS-WS/2-0-17/#Download
A follow-up email will be sent once the new version (2.0.18) has been re-released.
Thank you for your patience and many apologies for any disruptions this may have caused in your workflows.
