The ALASKA EARTHQUAKE CENTER is looking to fill position of a Research
Professional/Data Specialist to join our team on the front lines of
earthquake monitoring.
The Alaska Earthquake Center is part of the Geophysical Institute at the
University of
Alaska Fairbanks. The center’s mission spans monitoring, research, and
public
engagement. The Data Specialist is expected to have involvements across all
three
mission areas, participate in the day-to-day activities of the Center and
work in a
coordinated fashion within a collegial team.

To be successful applicants must demonstrate (i) a passion for earthquakes,
(ii) ease and
comfort in using computers, (iii) a talent for spatial thinking, and (iv) a
capacity to work
in a coordinated fashion. On occasion, the position requires being on-call
for 24/7 to
respond to significant earthquakes.
