Dear Colleagues,

A large research program on investigating subsurface processes in the Netherlands has recently been initiated. The program is dubbed 'DeepNL', and it focuses on the science associated with the gas extraction in the province of Groningen (north Netherlands). This mainly involves induced seismicity and subsidence. Within the DeepNL program, Delft University of Technology has been awarded a total of 15 PhD positions, distributed over 5 projects. In particular, we would like to draw your attention to 4 seismological PhD vacancies within the project DeepImage (group of applied geophysics & petrophysics). More information regarding the vacancies can be found here: www.tudelft.nl/ceg/deepnlhttp://www.tudelft.nl/ceg/deepnl. Note that DeepImage is project number 5.

It would be highly appreciated if you could bring these vacancies to the attention of prospective PhD candidates. In particular, we are particularly interested in candidates with a proven excellence in mathematics and/or (geo)physics. The application deadline is January 31st.

Thanks in advance,

Kees Wapenaar, Deyan Draganov, Cornelis Weemstra, Ranajit Ghose and Auke Barnhoorn
