Dear Colleagues,

Please consider submitting an abstract to the Inter-Association
symposium "JA09 - Joint Inversion of Different Geophysical Data Sets" at
the IUGG meeting in Montréal  8-18 July. We have two confirmed invited
speakers, Klaus Mosegaard and Peter Lelievre presenting recent advances
in joint inversion methods. We hope to provide a forum for exchange
between new methodologies and practical applications of multi-method
investigations.

You can find the session description below. The submission deadline is
the 18th of February.

If relevant, please forward this email to your colleagues.

Description

Combining complimentary data sets typically reduces the ambiguity of
inversion results and facilitates subsequent interpretation. Hence,
integration of multi-disciplinary data has become popular in many
disciplines including hydrogeophysics, mineral exploration, sub-basalt
and sub-salt problems, gas hydrate investigations, and studies involving
deep crustal and mantle structures. Still, many questions remain: Which
types of data should be inverted together? How to balance their
influence in the inversion? How can we assess the differences between
joint inversion, cooperative inversion and other integrated
interpretation strategies?

This symposium welcomes research using joint inversion or other
approaches to combine different types of geophysical data. Both case
studies and technical contributions are welcome
