The Computational Science and Engineering Group, Center for Mathematical Science and Advanced Technology (MAT), Research Institute for Value-Added-Information Generation (VAiG), JAMSTEC is recruiting a total of one position as a Project Scientist or Project Technical Scientist or Project Engineer.

[Job Description]
The Computational Science and Engineering Group, Center for Mathematical Science and Advanced Technology (MAT), Research Institute for Value-Added-Information Generation (VAiG), JAMSTEC provides a nurturing environment for development work with applications to both software and research relating to social and scientific issues that fall within the remit of the priority project "Cross-Ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP)" (Project period: FY2018-FY2022) for building innovative survey technology for enhancing the performance of deep-sea resources, funded by the Cabinet Office (CAO). We invite Project Scientist, Project Technical Scientist or Project Engineer with sufficient work experience to apply for these positions. Applicants should be interested in developing numerical models to optimize systems for mining and rifting mud from the seafloor.

The successful applicant will be expected to perform the following tasks:
1) Development of the 3D numerical simulation of the slurry transportation with a riser pipe.
2) Validation and improvement of the non-Newtonian fluid simulation model with an ocean and laboratory slurry experiments conducted by other SIP members.
