What you will do
The Seismoacoustics Team of the Geophysics Group (EES-17) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is looking for exceptional postdoctoral candidates with strong technical backgrounds in seismic imaging and waveform inversion. The Seismoacoustics Team primarily researches global explosion monitoring for national security purposes. The successful candidate will develop novel algorithms for local, regional, and global scale seismic imaging and inversion with applications to national security. Research topics for this position are not limited but may include:

* Attenuation, scattering and amplitude modeling
* Full waveform inversion
* Travel-time tomography
* Joint inversion (body and surface waves, amplitudes, gravity, receiver functions)
The LANL Seismoacoustics Team is dedicated to being a leader in the field of explosion monitoring. The Team researches topics using multiple computational techniques, machine learning, high performance computing, data analytics, multi-physics datasets, and physics-based modeling of the explosion sources. The Seismoacoustics Team is looking for exceptional candidates who have a proven track record of excellent scientific research and publishing.
