Hi,
SAC distribution includes the command: saclst
so, you can use it from the command line..
saclst npts f sacfile > output.txt
eg.
saclst npts f /Users/milton/Temp/data/Mendoza/2016_01_04/mza_e.sac
/Users/milton/Temp/data/Mendoza/2016_01_04/mza_e.sac 15361 15361/
15361
so, in this case the npts number is 15361
