Dear Community Members

This is a reminder of the Virtual Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings that will be happening during the originally-scheduled 2020 GAGE/SAGE Science Workshop. (This is the equivalent of the UNAVCO and IRIS Science Workshops, which used to be held separately. The first joint workshop was in Portland, Oregon in October 2019.)

The second joint workshop had originally been scheduled for August 2020 but was then postponed until August 17-19, 2021.

August 18-20, 2020 - Virtual Special Interest Group meetings of the Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings planned as part of the 2020 program are more timely this year so that important community feedback can be gathered to inform shorter-term activities. The following Virtual SIGs will be held the same week as the originally-scheduled workshop. Register here - deadline Sunday August 16.
Collecting Geophysical Observations from the Seafloor - Tuesday August 18, 12-2 pm ET
Emerging applications for sUAS (uncrewed aerial systems) - Tuesday August 18, 3-5 pm ET
How can the geodesy and seismology communities best-support early career faculty and grad students? - Wednesday August 19, 12-2 pm ET
Seismology Instrumentation for Rapid Response to Geohazards - Thursday August 20, 12-2 pm ET

Also keep in mind:
Fall 2020 - several of the GAGE/SAGE plenary speakers will also be giving talks as part of the IRIS webinar series First one will be “Behavior at and coupling across key Earth interfaces” on Thursday September 24, 2 pm ET by Heather Ford (University of California Riverside) and Diego Melgar (University of Oregon). Stay tuned for registration and more details about the webinars.
