Dear Colleagues,
You are invited to attend a free, online workshop on Shared-Use of
NHERI@UTexas Mobile Shakers for Geophysical and Seismological Research.
This workshop is hosted by the Natural Hazards Engineering Research
Infrastructure Equipment Facility at the University of Texas at Austin
(NHERI@UTexas). The workshop will be held online from *4 pm to 5 pm (CST)
Thursday, December 3rd, 2020 *as an event of the Natural Hazards
Engineering Research Infrastructure virtual booth at the 2020 AGU meeting.
The workshop will highlight the potential use of NHERI@UTexas equipment for
geophysical and seismological research. Information about shared-use of the
hydraulic mobile shakers available at NHERI@UTexas and examples from two
previous research projects will be presented in the workshop. The two
example projects are:
(1) Use of the smaller, urban shaker Thumper as a highly-mobile,
broadband seismic source for void detection via Full Waveform Inversion
(presented by Prof. Khiem Tran, University of Florida)
(2) Integration of the large, triaxial shaker truck T-Rex and PASSCAL
Texan Recorders for Seismic Profiling of Shallow and Deep Crustal Targets
(presented by Prof. Derek Lerch, Feather River College)
Those, who have additional questions regarding shared-use procedures for
the NHERI@UTexas equipment, shaker selection, budget planning, or other
logistics concerns, can request a private Zoom meeting with NHERI@UTexas
personnel after the workshop.
Please register for the workshop through the link below.
