Position Summary
The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES) at Michigan State University (MSU) is seeking candidates for a research faculty position. We are a rapidly growing department with over $14 Million in endowment funds. We seek a dynamic individual who will complement existing research in the department by building to strengths, filling gaps, and providing potential for collaboration. We are seeking candidates that will develop a vigorous, externally-funded research program, contribute to a collegial and cohesive departmental environment, and seek collaborative linkages with different units across campus. The successful candidate will be expected to support their own salary, starting from the time of hire, based on external funds from their own projects. Applicants are required to have a PhD in Geological Sciences or related field, a demonstrated track record of supporting their own research through external grants, and at least 6 months of salary support from funds in hand at the time of hire, with solid prospects for future funding.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Geological Sciences or related field
Minimum Requirements
Required qualifications are (1) having a PhD in Geological Sciences or related field, (2) demonstrated track record of obtaining funding, having a portfolio of current funding and a history that demonstrates the likelihood of maintaining strong funding and ongoing future commitment to seeking funding, (3) having at least 6 months of salary support from external grants in-hand by the position start date, (4) a demonstrated track record of scholarship as reflected in publications and/or reports, lead PI funding, invited presentations, and established collaborations.
Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications include (1) having a diversity of current and/or future funding sources, (2) complementing existing EES research by building to department strengths, filling gaps, and providing potential for collaboration within the department, and (3) having a track record of supporting DEI efforts that would complement our institution's goals and objectives
