hello;
i'am a seismology PhD student.
Currently i'm working on how to evaluate the local magnitude of my region,
but i found some difficulties to determinate the synthetic wood-andersson
seismograme .
my questions are:
when i use the commande transfer from polezero subtype fname to WA, do i
have to deconvoluate the instrument response or i use the raw signal
directly ?
and do i get the synthetic wood-anderson signal ? also, what is the unit
of the amplitude of Wood-Anderson signal ?
can you provide us more details about this methode please, thank you

Hi,
Please, I recommend you read the help for the transfer command.
sac> help transfer.
Prior to running the command transfer you must read the "trace" data, and
it is raw signal,
so it includes the "effect"/"filter" of the sensor, so when you apply the
transfer command it
removes the sensor effect from your signal and puts the wood Anderson's
one, as if the trace
was recorded with a WA instrument.
For local magnitude the WA output must be in displacement units.
HTH,
milton
