The IRIS PASSCAL Instrument Center at New Mexico Institute of Mining and
Technology (NMT), located in Socorro, is seeking applicants to fill the
full-time position of Magnetotelluric (MT) Specialist. The
Magnetotelluric Specialist will provide equipment and experiment support
for our pool of wide-band and long-period magnetotelluric systems.

This is an exciting time for MT within the NSF-funded SAGE facility,
which IRIS operates in conjunction with NMT. Newly purchased wide band
and long period MT instrumentation are going out to support Principal
Investigator-led experiments in the U.S. and abroad. This presentation

Position Open Until: 2022-12-31

JOB DUTIES: Core responsibility is to support magnetotelluric equipment
pool at IRIS PASSCAL (https://www.passcal.nmt.edu). Support will
include: equipment testing and maintenance; coordinating equipment use;
data archiving support; user training; and fieldwork. The
Magnetotelluric Specialist will also be responsible for developing
training and use documentation emphasizing best practices.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree - Area of study: Geophysics
or related science and 3 years directly applicable. Or, Master's degree
- Area of study: Geophysics or related science required. UNIX/Linux
systems required. Scripting language desired. Time-series data formats
required. Familiarity with MT instrumentation and/or MT field experience
required. Familiarity with MT theory and response functions required.
miniSEED data format desired.

Competitive candidates will already be legally permitted to work in the
United States.
