The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Volcano Science Center (VSC) seeks two Computer Scientists to oversee and conduct software development and IT management. Both positions will be based at the Cascades Volcano Observatory (CVO) in Vancouver, WA. One position will be with the Volcano Disaster Assistance Program (VDAP, https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/projects/VDAP/), a group co-funded by USAID that supports volcano observatories worldwide. The successful candidate will work with other scientists and engineers to develop a wide variety of software products to support VDAP’s crisis response and capacity building activities in the developing world.

The second position will be with the Cascades Volcano Observatory and will be primarily engaged with developing software applications and hardware integration for US domestic volcano monitoring projects, especially at Mt. Rainier (For background on CVO see https://www.usgs.gov/observatories/cvo).

Both positions are full-time permanent. Applicants must be US citizens and will be hired at the GS-13 level with promotion potential to GS-15. Duty station for both positions is Vancouver, WA and requires frequent in-office functions. This is not a remote job. Relocation expenses will be available for the successful candidates.

All applicants are encouraged to read the application details carefully. All supplementary materials must be submitted before the closing date. You must apply through the USAJOBS portal. For further details and to apply for one of these openings, see:
