Summary: Working with many partners around the world, the International Federation of Digital Seismograph Networks (FDSN) has had success in establishing a Federated Data Center System built upon FDSN web services. IRIS Data Services is organizing the 10th Workshop on “Managing Data from Seismic Networks” from August 20-27, 2017 in Pretoria, South Africa. The Council for Geosciences is our local host and a co-sponsor of the workshop. This is the first time that the data workshop is taking place in Sub-Saharan Africa and our priority for participants is researchers from and operators of seismic networks in Africa.
