Hi All,
I am having trouble with my computer clock. Every morning when I come in I ping "atomic clock sync" and my clock is off by about 3.5 minutes. I have the program set to ping automatically but that only happens once a day. Is there a way to automatically ping more often? Why is my clock so inacurrate?

I just recently received and as1 and was wondering what is the
optimal gain for the helicorder to where you get earthquakes but not
as much kid noise. I have mine set to 1 currently but is that
sensitive enough to pick up events?

Hi Dennis,
The optimal gain for your AS-1 is going to be unique to your station,
depending on where your instrument is set up and the local noise
conditions. However, a value for the gain between 25-50 is ideal.
Likely, you will need to experiment a bit to find your optimal setting.
Start with a setting such that the background noise is just visible.
Over time, if your trace is too noisy, adjust the gain to a lower value.
Good Luck!
