Hi ECI,

I don't know how many of you are on the IRIS Bulkmail list (maybe all of you), but an email went out yesterday evening talking about the new Special Events application that the IRIS DMC Data Products guys have been working on. Essentially it is a one-stop-shop collection and distribution point for new data visualizations and products associated with a specific event of interest. It is not meant to be K-12 level - it is purely for the undergrad-graduate-postgrad-researcher level. These pages will also not be created for every single large teleseismic event.

Anyway, after the discussion at the AGU breakfast at the Fall Meeting last year, I thought this might be of interest to some of you. There is a commenting engine built in to the application so users (such as yourselves) can post content and engage with other scientists who are also interested in these types of unique event. People have already been posting content (such as moment tensors).

If you are interested, here is the link: http://www.iris.edu/dms/nodes/dmc/specialevents/2013/02/12/north-korea-nuclear-explosion/

Best regards,
- Rob Newman
