An international symposium on “50 years of plate tectonics” will be held on June 25-26 in the main auditorium of the College de France in Paris. It will take the form of a series of invited presentations — plus a poster session in the late afternoon — that will illustrate some historical aspects of the “discovery” of plate tectonics with a focus on current achievements and challenges. Xavier Le Pichon will give the introductory conference. Confirmed speakers include P. Molnar, D. McKenzie, J. Morgan, W. Roest, D. Mueller, R. Gordon, E. Calais, R. Burgmann, C. Ranero, J-P. Avouac, M. Cannat, R. Buck, B. Romanowicz, A. Davaille, N. Coltice, L. Fleitout, D. Bercovici, G Ramstein.
Please save June 25-26, 2018, and join us for what promises to be an exciting scientific event in Paris. More details will follow, though you may already indicate your intention to attend to eric.calais<at>ens.fr <eric.calais<at>ens.fr>.
