Topics: AGU Meetings
Over the next 2 years, IRIS will establish a pool of modern, portable
magnetotelluric (MT) systems at the PASSCAL Instrument Center in
Socorro, New Mexico. The facility aims to broaden PI participation in MT
science by increasing opportunities for experiments by non-expert users
and encouraging combined seismic-MT studies, with comprehensive training
and support at no cost. This plan is fully described here:
http://ds.iris.edu/message-center/thread/4669/

IRIS management and MT program governance, the Electromagnetic Advisory
Committee (EMAC), will hold a Special Interest Group meeting during the
Fall AGU meeting, next week in Washington, DC.

12:30-1:30 PM
Wednesday, December 12
Congressional Ballroom B
Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown Hotel
Address: 999 9th St NW, a block south of the Convention Center

Please consider attending this SIG if you would like to learn more about
the MT facility plans, share experience on elements of the facility
vision (such as MT systems, electrodes, data processing, data archival),
or participate in the community guidance of this process. We invite
participants to speak for a couple minutes about their research needs
related to MT or update the group on anything that should be accounted
for when establishing these research capabilities. Powerpoint slides can
be shown but are not required.

We will have 20 boxed lunches available for attendees, first come, first
serve. You may RSVP by replying to this email, and please mention if you
intend to contribute one of these "pop-up" talks.

Thanks, A
