15 EU (Marie Skłodowska-Curie ITN) Funded PhD Positions in Engineering Seismology at leading institutions across Europe.

Dear all,

I would like to bring to your attention the following PhD opportunities (for 2019 start) in the newly established URBASIS-EU consortium:

https://urbasis-eu.osug.fr/spip.php?article25

All PhDs are funded according to the conditions set out in the highly sought after Marie Skłodowska-Curie ITN, which offers some of the most generous terms in Europe.

URBASIS-EU specifically focus on the multidisciplinary applications of the engineering seismology and earthquake engineering in fields as diverse as induced seismicity, low-probability/high consequences earthquakes, site effects, seismic vulnerability and risk analysis.

Criteria for Eligibility:

Eligible candidates must be in the first 4 years of their research career, and have not yet been awarded a doctorate degree.
Eligible candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of his host institution for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to his/her recruitment under the project (compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken into account).
Eligible candidates can be of any nationality.

The 15 PhD projects, which also involve significant industrial and academic secondments, are:

ESR1.1 - Uncertainty characterisation of ground motion from large earthquakes in urban areas - Supervisors: Marco De Angelis and Ben Edwards (University of Liverpool - Host institution) Danijel Schorlemmer (GFZ Potsdam)

ESR 1.2 - Ground-motion models for stable continental part of Europe - Supervisors: Fabrice Cotton and Dino Bindi (GFZ Potsdam Host institution), Ben Edwards (University of Liverpool)

We look forward to receiving your application (via https://urbasis-eu.osug.fr/spip.php?article25 ) that must include personal cover letter, CV, academic transcripts, the names and complete contact information of two referees, and letters of two referees. The qualifications of the applicant will be assessed the 25th of February 2019 by the Selection committee and final decision will be published after interviews of the applicants and each Supervisory ESR committee, due the third week of March 2019.
