The Earthquake Science Center (ESC) of the USGS Earthquake Hazards Program is seeking a geophysicist to support our real-time seismic monitoring projects. This position is being offered in the Seattle, WA Field Office.

Projects within the USGS ESC support the mission of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (PNSN), which is cooperatively managed with the University of Washington and University of Oregon as part of the Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS).

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of key aspects of the real-time seismic data acquisition system, including both software and hardware, and requires the ability to interpret and analyze digital seismic signals from a wide variety of field recording sites. Duties include the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of digital field equipment and communications infrastructure of the PNSN, performed in collaboration with other USGS offices, the University of Washington, the University of Oregon, and other cooperators. The successful candidate will work with a wide variety of equipment used for seismic monitoring, data acquisition, power, computer networking, and communications.
