Assistant Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences

The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, America’s eighth oldest institution of higher learning and New Jersey’s premier public research university, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor. Higher rank appointments will also be considered under exceptional circumstances.

We seek candidates in all areas of Earth and planetary sciences, with emphases on the areas of planetary interior studies, Earth system history, and computational modeling approaches. We particularly welcome applications from candidates committed to promotion of equity and inclusion through their research, teaching, and/or service and to mentorship within one of the most diverse university communities in the country. We are open to candidates who have had non-traditional career paths, taken time off for family reasons, or achieved excellence in careers outside academia.

Rutgers has a strong tradition of cross-disciplinary research and of institutions that support collaborative work across departments, such as the Rutgers Institute of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences, the Rutgers Climate Institute, and the Rutgers Energy Institute.
