Southern Methodist University Department of Earth Sciences invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Seismology. Candidates should have recently completed a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences, Geophysics, Seismology, or Physics, or should expect to complete their degree requirements, by January 2022.

The postdoctoral position will focus on ongoing research associated with understanding intraplate earthquakes induced by anthropogenic activities. Analyses will require integrating earthquake data, fault data, production and disposal information, and regional seismic velocity data to study complex triggering of earthquakes in west Texas with possible expansion of research into other parts of Texas. We seek candidates with experience in analyzing seismic data using modern computational seismology approaches and a demonstrated ability to process large, regional seismic datasets.

The postdoctoral fellowship is funded through the Texas Seismological Network Monitoring and Research Program (TexNet) at the University of Texas at Austin. The duration of contract is one year with possible extension to a second year.

Questions regarding this position should be directed to Professor Heather DeShon, hdeshon<at>smu.edu.

Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled and should be submitted at: https://smu.taleo.net/careersection/ex/jobdetail.ftl?job=DED00000249&tz=GMT-05%3A00&tzname=America%2FChicago
