Postdoctoral Associate Position

The Geology and Geophysics department at Louisiana State University has a postdoctoral researcher position available in computational seismology with a focus on geo-hazards and environmental applications. The postdoc will work on projects aimed at determining basin structure using nodal arrays and understanding fluid-driven processes and their relationship to seismic and aseismic deformation using a dense seismic grid. The initial appointment would be for one year.

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in geophysics or a related field at the time of appointment. Previous experience in any of the following areas is welcome: microearthquake analysis, seismic tomography, analysis of nodal seismic datasets, numerical simulations of the seismic wavefield, high-performance computing, and machine learning applications in observational seismology. Responsibilities will include writing peer-reviewed articles, software development, and involvement in seismic surveys. The candidate will be expected to work independently and collaboratively on projects requiring initiative and strong organizational skills, and to supportively collaborate with students.

For more information or to apply for the position, contact Dr. Patricia Persaud (ppersaud<at>lsu.edu). To apply, please send a CV, a short statement (2-3 pages) of research interests and experience related to the topics above, and the names and contact information of three academic references to ppersaud<at>lsu.edu.

The start date is flexible, but January 2022 is preferred. The salary for this position is $50,100 per year. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
