As part of the GACR-DFG funded project “Probing the 4D evolution of
active magmatic systems through magnetotelluric monitoring” we are
looking for two enthusiastic geophysicists at a post-doctoral level. The
aim of the project is to conduct repeat measurements of magnetotelluric
data at Mt. St. Helens and develop novel analysis techniques to gain
deeper insight into the dynamics of major volcanic systems. One position
will be based at Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich and one at the
Institute of Geophysics, Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague and each
position is funded for 3 years. Field work at Mt. St. Helens is expected
to take place in September/October 2022 and will be performed jointly by
both institutions.

(Munich)*

Essential:

- Strong numerical programming skills in a modern language, ideally C++

- Experience with geophysical inversion algorithm development

Desirable:

- Familiarity with magnetotelluric data and inversion

- Field experience

Employment will be according to the rules of German public employees and
remuneration at level TVL-13. For further information, please contact
Dr. Max Moorkamp (Max.Moorkamp<at>lmu.de)

*Position “Data driven volcano monitoring technqiues” (Prague)*

- Knowledge of time-series processing techniques

- Experience with geophysical field-work, ideally magnetotellurics

- Knowledge of a numerical computational environment (Matlab, Python, etc.)

Desirable

- Experience with geophysical inversion, ideally magnetotellurics

Employment will be according to the rules of the Czech Academy of
Sciences with remuneration according to experience. For further
