Dear colleagues, (with apologies for cross posting)
We are looking for candidates for a PhD position in Geophysics at University of Roma Tre, Italy.
The research topic is the physical characterization of global continental crust from seismic attenuation. The main supervisor will be Prof. Fabio Cammarano.
The student will analyze and interpret seismic data, specifically to measure the rate of attenuation as seismic waves propagate through the earth's crust and upper mantle. The skills developed in seismic data analysis will then help to draw inferences on current thermo-chemical structure and evolution of the continental crust at the global scale. This research proposal is part of a long-term cooperation with Prof. Lapo Boschi at the University of Padua, Italy, on the study of seismic attenuation.
Applicants must hold a Master degree or equivalent in Earth sciences, geophysics, physics, or related disciplines. We are looking for candidates motivated to pursue an interdisciplinary project. The position is for 3 years and will be fully funded by the University of Roma Tre.
Please bring this opportunity to the attention of students and colleagues who might be interested.
Perspective candidates should contact, at their earliest convenience, Prof. Fabio Cammarano (Roma Tre University) by email: fabio.cammarano<at>uniroma3.it<fabio.cammarano<at>uniroma3.it>
