We are looking for outstanding PhD and Postdoctoral Scholars to join us at the University of Utah in the Department of Geology and Geophysics to work on various projects related to glaciers, geomorphology, and climate change.

Students and Postdocs would work with various field (geophysical, glaciological, and geomorphological), lab (cosmogenic radionuclides, geochemistry, rock mechanics), and numerical modeling techniques. Various numerical glacier and geomorphic models are available for development and use by applicants. No prior experience coding is required. Field work associated with these opportunities could find you in the Wasatch Range and Teton Range of the Western US, Alaska, Iceland, and/or Nepal and India.

Joining the department would also offer the opportunity to engage with groups working on hillslope response to glaciers and climate change (Jeff Moore) and applying various in situ geophysical techniques to alpine environments (Michael Thorne, Tonie Van Dam, and Fan-Chi Lin).

We are seeking a PhD student to engage with a flexible combination of novel ways 1) to document and model the response of glaciers in High mountain Asia, Alaska, and the Western US to climate change and 2) to estimate past climate from paleoglaciers. Applications are due January 15th, 2023.

There are outstanding opportunities to join the Department of Geology and Geophysics as a Postdoctoral Scholar working on glacier response to climate change in the past, present, and future.
