Frequently Answered Question

Question

I received an email saying my SAC software request was approved, but I never received any software

Answer

IRIS is restricted by the licensing terms of the SAC software to distribution by email only.

Many email providers actively block any sort of executable software as a security measure, so the emails containing these software attachments may not arrive.

In that case, you will need to provide an alternate email address to receive the software.

You can do this by following the link in the approval email; it looks something like this:
https://ds.iris.edu/ds/nodes/dmc/forms/sac-retry/12345-5gv-e76c8f717a64f5b3a519

Note: Because these are blocked by the email provider, the alternate email address should be from a different organization. The most reliable option to use a no-frills email address like protonmail.com — these are free and relatively easy to set up a scratch email address.
