As a preliminary to the SEKS Experiment, three stations were deployed in Kamchatka during the summer of 1997 to conduct noise tests. These stations were deployed on the Kliuchevskoi Volcano in the North and on the exploding Karymsky volcano. Approximately 3.5 GBytes of event data were recorded over a period of about one month using CMG-40Ts and microphones.
