Please consider participating in the “New Frontiers in Geophysical
Research: Bringing New Tools and Techniques to Bear on Earthquake Hazard
Analysis and Mitigation”, to be held 7/14-26 in Santo Domingo, Dominican
Republic. Although the application deadline is 3/31, applications from
graduate students, post-docs, and other early career seismologists based
at U.S. universities would still be welcome next week.

This Advanced Studies Institute is designed to enable early career Earth
scientists who already have mastered the fundamentals of seismology –
including post-docs and graduate students – to begin collaborating in
frontier seismological research. The objectives are to

• Develop understanding of the principles of earthquake hazard analysis,
particularly site characterization techniques;

• Facilitate future research collaborations.

Complete information is available on the IRIS web site at
http://www.iris.edu/hq/pasi_workshop. Travel support will be available
for selected participants. Women, under represented minorities, and
persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
The
Pan-American Advanced Studies Institutes (PASI) Program is a jointly
supported initiative between the Department of Energy (DOE) and the
National Science Foundation (NSF).
