Dear colleagues,

Please share the following position with your students and postdocs.

The geophysics group at the University of Michigan is seeking applicants
for a post-doctoral research position in ocean-bottom geophysics to work on
Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS). Research topics of interest include
observational oceanography and ocean-bottom seismology (including
environmental seismology). The candidate will have the opportunity to
participate in DAS data collection and be involved in several projects in
the coming years.

Candidates with a PhD in geophysics or observational oceanography and
related areas are welcome to apply. Strong knowledge of one or several of
the following methods will be valued for this position: array techniques,
machine/deep learning, ambient noise correlations, or signal processing in
oceanography. Working with DAS requires strong coding skills to scale
existing and new algorithms to process very large amounts of seismo-acoutsic
data.

Applicants should send a current curriculum vitae and a research statement
to Zack Spica (zspica[at]umich.edu). Applications received by May 10th,
2023, will be considered fully. The preferred start date is September 2023,
but flexibility is possible. The initial appointment is for one year, with
the possibility of extending to a second year. The position includes a
competitive salary with excellent benefits, research expenses, and
participation in international conferences. The University of Michigan is
an equal opportunity action employer.
