University of Beira Interior (Portugal) is opening in February-March 2019 a 36-month researcher position in seismology in the scope of the research project “SHAZAM - Seismicity and HAzards of the sub-saharian Atlantic Margin”. The project aims at investigating the role of asthenospheric dynamics in the intraplate deformation and seismicity of the Gulf of Guinea.

The researcher will take a key role in this project in 1) leading the strategy for maintaining and deploying new seismic stations in the Gulf of Guinea involving fieldwork, 2) contributing to the seismic hazard assessment in this intraplate region and 3) evaluating the seismic anisotropy.

Job Requirements:
* A Ph.D. in Geophysics or seismology
* Experience in seismicity analysis
* Proficiency in one or more programming languages

The researcher will closely collaborate with Dr. Susana Vilanova (IST Lisbon), Pr. João Fonseca (IST Lisbon), Dr. Graça Silveira (IDL/University of Lisbon). SHAZAM project will work in close collaboration with local and AfricaArray partners.
