The University of Utah Seismograph Stations (UUSS, www.quake.utah.edu) invites applications for the position of communications specialist. UUSS is an organizational unit within the Department of Geology and Geophysics that operates a network of approximately 250 seismograph stations in the state of Utah and Yellowstone National Park. UUSS is responsible for generating and disseminating earthquake catalogs and other earthquake information products. The successful applicant will facilitate the distribution of technical and educational information generated by UUSS scientists to the general public, government officials, members of the media, and funding agencies. This is a full-time, benefitted position with an expected starting salary of $45,000–$55,000. The nominal work schedule is Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM, although availability at night and on weekends may be required during times of heightened media interest. The position will report to UUSS Seismic Network Manager Valeriu Burlacu.
