UNAVCO, a non-profit university-governed consortium facilitating geoscience
research and education using geodesy, is accepting applications for a
*Permitting
Assistant *in our San Clemente, California office.

For over three decades, UNAVCO has spearheaded the use of cutting-edge
technology while providing robust operational support for researchers
exploring tectonics (earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics), the
deformation of ice, the Earth's response to groundwater, sea level, and
aspects of the hydro-sphere, and atmosphere. We operate the Geodetic
Facility for the Advancement of GeoScience, known as the GAGE Facility, and
host the National Science Foundation's Geodesy Data Archive, which
provides cyber
infrastructure to support the full data life cycle and interoperability with
other national and international Earth science Data Centers. UNAVCO operates
a multinational network of geophysical instrumentation on behalf of the
National Science Foundation. The Network of the Americas (NOTA) is comprised
of over 1200 geophysical stations (GPS/GNSS, borehole strainmeter+ seismic)
that span Alaska, the lower *48 *states, Mexico, Central America, and the
Caribbean. A subset of NOTA stations contributes to the United States
Geological Survey (USGS) ShakeAlert program, the earthquake early
warning system
in California, Oregon, and Washington.

The *Permitting Assistant *will support the permitting team and project
managers with renewing NOTA permits in California. This position works
closely with the Senior Contracts and Permitting Manager and Project Manager on
permitting, landowner relations, and history of geophysical equipment as it
relates to land use. The Permitting Assistant will interact with private
landowners, private companies, and public agencies to renew permits
and strengthen
relationships between landowners and UNAVCO.
