Hello Everyone;
I have couple of questions. I would appreciate If someone can help me.
I want to generate receiver functions from synthetic data and the synthetic
data which I am using is in Z (VERTICAL), R(RADIAL) & T(TRANSVERSE)
format. I have my sac headers for each synthetic data like this :
FILE: 201221001.MO.12543.BHZ - 1

NPTS = 4096
B = 5.000000e-01
E = 2.048000e+03
IFTYPE = TIME SERIES FILE
LEVEN = TRUE

Dear Sunil,
00 and 10 represent the locations where the bore hole (STS 2 ) seismometer and the shallow Guralp CMT 3G seismometer are installed respectively at PALK station.

Dear Sunil Roy
00 and 10 is location code
Some stations, in particular IRIS stations, use location codes. In this
case you have to enter the location code here. Typically ?00? for STS-1 or
?10? for STS-2 seismometer.
If they has the same SPS they aren't diferents.

Dear SAC users,
I am facing a problem with rdseed. I want to convert miniSEED data
into SAC. I have both a miniSEED file and a dataless file, and I used
the command:
rdseed -d -f file.miniSEED -g file.DATALESS
Instead of getting a single output SAC file, I have many of them.
There are no gaps in my miniSEED data but within the volume there are
as many blocks of data spanning different time intervals as output SAC
files.
I would like to know if there is an option with rdseed to tell t…

Re: Conversion SEED to SAC - Robert Casey - 2012-07-18 20:34:56
Hello everybody, I'm trying to writte a script that does the following:
I have a folder with 3 .SAC files
Each sac file has a value assigned to his t1 variable
lets say:
01.SAC has t1=300
02.SAC has t1=301
03.SAC has t1=302
And i have a file with a column of values, lets say:
"traveltimes.dat"
300.456
301.365
302.568
I want to replace the t1 values in the .SAC files for the ones that are in the file "traveltimes.dat"
I need to do this task for many (up to thousands of .SAC files) and I h…

First, many thanks to Milton Plasencia and George Helffrich for their
suggestions.
-Running the conversion programs from within SAC helped a lot. For
example, the scale is automatically set when
reading straight SEGY( for single traces)
-Making sure I had a little-endian output to read into SAC was critical.
cheers,
Juan

Dear Sir/Madam,
My master student has encountered the problem when we use the SAC. Can you help me to solve it? Since it is hard for Chinese to linux command to interact with SAC, we try to use the web style to interact with SAC.
When we process the "PlotPK" command, because there exists the cursor interaction, we don't know to handle these type interaction with the font webpage for remote users.
Can give us some suggestions to solve problem? Or may you tell us which sub software pac…

Dear Colleagues:
Does anyone know how the moving average is done in SAC?
I mean how can I move a window of lets say 10 (degrees, in azimuth) in
steps of 5 (degrees) across the read in files and
calculate the stacked trace for each window?
Is there any macro for doing this?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

Dear All:
I am running the latest passoft rpm on a 64-bit RHEL6 system.
(I start with SU data and convert it to SEGY data)
I am trying to convert segy data into sac format. (The segy data can
be read by pql)
I then run sierra2segy -g followed by segy2sac.
Although I get no error messages, the output from sierra2segy only
generates files that are 240 bytes long,
which I can not read with pql. The segy2sac produces no output.
I am guessing my issues arise from the segy binary header …

Hello,
My name is Michael Bramnik, a graduate student at Northern Illinois
University working to wrap up his Master's Thesis in the next few weeks.
I've been using SAC to great effect to analyze my data, but I'm running
into a problem neither myself nor my advisor (nor the SAC user manual) seem
to be able to figure out:
When I "readalpha" data into SAC, I usually import it from a single-column
.txt file (4000 lines). I then "write" to .sac format, and then filter and
plot particle motion, et…

Dear all,
I am having trouble making the cut function working as I would like. I
have two sac files with different begin times. I need to extract a
common time window for both.
Looking at the help I found the functions synchronize and cutim which
apparently could do the job. Consequently, I did the following:
read the data
synchronize (with the default option, the 0 on the time axis is common
to both files, which is fine)
then I tried to cut with respect to that time zero (cutim Z time…
